Vintage 60s Striped Florence Knoll Parallel Bar Chairs Set of 2 Details:
- striking striped fabric either original or a very early reupholstery (the hardware looks untouched to me so I lean towards original)
- upholstery is purple, red, orange, charcoal blue and brown
- includes set of 2 matching chairs (one more chair in same fabric but in the solid frame lounge chair design available separately for purchase so ask for images if interested)
- designed in '54 by Florence Knoll
- fabric is nylon, metal is steel
- cushions are attached
- these are each quite heavy
- can be used next to each other for a settee look or angled separately
- local pickup in Ironton, Ohio, 45638
Decade: Late 50s ('57) - '65 most likely based on upholstery finishing and when nylon fabric was introduced into Knoll products in '57. Parallel bar chairs were made until '73 so no newer than that.
Condition: Very good
- steel has some oxidation to it (please look at photos zoomed in and ask for more if needed)
- hardware has oxidation including bottom dustcover tact nails, original chair screws as can be seen in images
- minor scuffs and scratches to metal
- fabric in very good condition but has some minor pilling to surface and a couple of small picks (upper cushions have an extremely slight angle from being sat in when looking head on)
- front leg of one chair has a tiny wobble though they are very sturdy
- Overall these are amazing in person but be sure to ask for more images or more details if any questions
