Antique Victorian 1800s Mermaid Siren Cast Iron Leg Piano Stool Details:
- antique piano stool with legs shaped like mermaid ship heads with faces, chest, scaled tails that go down leg to base of leg
- has old damage so please read full condition description
- made by A. Merriam & Co. out of Meriden, Connecticut as marked on stool seat underside
- looks like original cotton velveteen fabric
- seat top twists up around 8 inches
Decade: 1800s for sure and likely 1880s
Condition: Fragile/Fair
- 2 splits in base turned wood where legs screw on and a 2 screws replaced long ago
- one screw replaced long ago on top of stool that holds in metal screw mechanism
- velveteen and fiber under needs replaced on seat
- i can sit on it but i wouldn't trust it to use regularly with the splits
- oxidation to mermaid legs
- painted black at some point which is flaking off
-definitely would need a full restoration
