20s Antique Beige Cream Cape XL Dress Set Details:
- silk bodice and cotton or rayon boucle skirt and outer cape
- this one hails from the late teens to the very early 20s
- avant garde dramatic embroidering on bodice
- 35 fabric covered buttons with many having rust coming through (should be 36 but one missing)
- square neckline with each shoulder opening that snap buttons and hook and eyes
- original attached belt at one end and snaps on and an inner elastic waist that has stretched some
- belt is attached at waistband and does not come undone (this is how it originally was so I put it back exactly where it was prior to cleaning)
- slips over head with no closure so body measurements must be smaller than dress size
- center hole on bodice that may have somehow had a type of a collar pin used to hook the edge of the cape to in order to keep it in place as edges of cape ties has little loops
- this would be a beautiful wedding gown if properly restored
- all shown in natural light
- best for a XL but please base purchase off of actual measurements
Condition: good
- has not been cleaned but likely will clean up beautifully but all buttons will need removed prior to doing so
- some dirt or dinge discoloration on skirt that will likely easily come out with cleaning and a couple small rust colored stains
- antique metal staples and tag from an old dry cleaning
- as previously mentioned should be 36 buttons but one is missing at top of skirt side and the majority of them have rusted from the inside out so will need replaced
- some small spots that look like accumulated dust or dirt on cape as well that will likely come out when cleaned
- some light fuzzing to boucle fabric on skirt and cape and a couple of small picks
- no odors to note
