Antique Early 1900s - 1920s Reverse Carved Glass Butterfly Wing Brooch Details:
- reverse carved clear glass depicting Greek Goddess Artemis with her hound on the hunt
- background is genuine butterfly wings (my guess is they were scrap blue wings at the end of the day and they layered and painted them silver) as this would have been a cheaper brooch due to the type of metal compared to the identical ones in silver
Closure - hinged C clasp
Material: likely brass metal, glass and butterfly wings
Decade: Early 1900s into the 1920s
Brand/Tags: no marking on this one but this exact Goddess reverse carved piece has been marked and attributed to Thomas L Mott.
Condition: Very good - the back clasp looks like it could have been readded at some point, some scratches on back of brooch
Measurements:
1" high X .75" wide
